Backtest
Replay history. Test the idea.
Run a strategy against past daily bars to see how it would have behaved. Nothing here touches a broker, real money, or the trade journal.
SimulatedDaily bars · Yahoo
Educational and research use only. Not financial advice.
- Backtests can be misleading due to overfitting, lookahead bias, survivorship bias, changing market regimes, and unrealistic fills.
- Yahoo daily bars are adjusted for splits and dividends. Survivorship-biased — delisted tickers won’t return data. Real results will differ from this simulation.
- Slippage and commissions are off by default — turn them up to test how robust a result is. A “profitable” strategy that becomes unprofitable at 5 bps slippage probably isn’t real.
- Do not use this strategy with real money until manually reviewed, paper-tested, and risk-limited.

- Next-bar-open fills with adverse slippage.
- Stops fire before targets in the same bar.
- Risk-based position sizing, floor()ed to whole shares.
